Wipe the Tears is a Scottish Registered Charity, founded in February 2015. We are run by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers that have been actively volunteering since it was founded. Our mission is to support children, especially orphans, widows and local Syrian refugees through aid and longterm development programmes. We wholeheartedly believe that every penny you donate is strictly used to improve a child’s life.
The conflict in Syria has caused an international refugee crisis. A recent UNICEF survey estimates the displacement of 3.2 million children. According to the UN, half of all Syrian refugees are under the age of 18. If the status quo remains or becomes worse, Syria is at huge risk of losing a whole generation. These children are in dire need of access to basic human necessities such as clothing, food, drink and warmth. As well as services aimed at continuing self development by means of education, counselling, and organised activities.
We are unique in terms of what we aim to tackle–- we provide much more than humanitarian aid. Amongst our several projects, we plan to establish workshops, educating children and their families in accordance with the environment they are forced to live in. Through our workshops, we will break the silence and stigmas attached to issues such as rape, drugs, organ trafficking and having the label of a refugee status.
